IGLESIASThe Seattle Mariners lost a road series for the first time this season, as Detroit's Jose Iglesias singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and Detroit won 5-4 Sunday at Comerica Park.

The Mariners (22-17, 1-2 in the series) will play a makeup game Minnesota at 4 p.m. PT Monday. Wade LeBlanc (0-0) of Seattle pitches opposite Jake Odorizzi (3-2).

The worst news of Sunday, however, was the loss of second baseman Robinson Cano to a broken finger. He was hit by a pitch from Detroit starter Blaine Hardy in the third inning and left the game. Cano is expected to miss about six weeks.

The Tigers generated the ninth-inning run on soft singles by JaCoby Jones and Niko Goodrum, and then Iglesias — all off of Juan Nicasio.

James Paxton, who struck out 16 hitters against Oakland and threw a no-hitter against Toronto in his two previous starts, allowed six hits and three runs while striking out four and walking none in six innings.
