Four Thorns tabbed for international duty
Four Portland Thorns players have been called into their national teams for upcoming international friendlies.
Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan and Midge Purce have been named to the U.S. team for international friendly games on June 7 and 12 against China.
Christine Sinclair, who leads the National Women's Soccer League with six goals through 10 games this season, will join Canada for its June 10 match against Germany at Hamilton, Ontario. She has 172 goals in 267 appearances for Canada.
All four Thorns players will join their national teams after Portland plays host to NWSL-leading North Carolina on Wednesday. The players will return to Portland ahead of the Thorns' June 16 match at Chicago.
The United States will play host to China at 6 p.m. on June 7 in Sandy, Utah (FS1). The teams will play again at 4 p.m. on June 12 at Cleveland (ESPN2).
Horan has made 49 appearances for the United States, most recently on April 5 and April 8 against Mexico.
Heath has played 132 matches for the United States. This is her first camp with the national team since she played 18 minutes last September against New Zealand.
This is the second time Purce has been part of the national team roster, though she has not yet played for the United States.
