Left-hander Marco Gonzales and three relievers hold Tampa Bay to five hits in a 3-1 Mariners victory; Seattle goes for eighth win of 10-game homestand Sunday

GONZALESMarco Gonzales scattered five hits in 6 2/3 innings, and three relievers and a Ryon Healy homer helped Seattle beat Tampa Bay 3-1 Saturday at Safeco Field.

The left-handed Gonzales allowed only the one run while striking out six and walking two in moving his record to 6-3.

Nelson Cruz had an RBI single and Kyle Seager an RBI double in the third inning off Rays starter Chris Archer. Tampa Bay cut it to 2-1 in the sixth inning, but Healy homered in the bottom of the inning to give Seattle cushion.

The Mariners (36-22) have won seven of the first nine games of the homestand, and go for the three-game sweep of the Rays at 1 p.m. Sunday. Felix Hernandez (5-4) pitches for Seattle opposite Blake Snell (7-3).

After Sunday, the Mariners play two games at Houston and four at Tampa Bay.
