Marco Gonzales has another fine outing, and Seattle gets timely RBIs; third game of series is 1 p.m. Saturday, with Felix Hernandez taking the mound

GONZALESSeattle's strong play is continuing, as the Mariners beat Tampa Bay 4-3 Friday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Marco Gonzales had another strong outing, giving up five hits and two runs while striking out three and walking none in 7 1/3 innings. He moved to 7-3 with a 3.28 ERA. Alex Colome and Edwin Diaz (22nd save) finishing off things.

With Tampa Bay employing a pitching-by-relievers strategy, the Mariners scored two runs in the third inning, one coming on Dan Vogelbach's RBI single. They added a single run in the fourth and another in the fifth on Mitch Haniger's RBI single, making it 4-0.

Christian Arroyo hit a solo homer and C.J. Cron a two-run homer for Tampa Bay's runs.

The Mariners (40-23) and Rays (28-34) play again at 1 p.m. Saturday, with Felix Hernandez (6-4) pitching opposite Blake Snell (7-3).
