Breshears has 3 RBIs in loss; Portland returns to Walker Stadium for Tuesday start of West Coast League homestand

The Falcons homered twice to claim a West Coast League series victory on Sunday at Elks Stadium.

Kelowna (17-12) scored three runs in the third inning off left-hander Nick Sparks (Saint Mary's). Righty Damon Treadwell (Gonzaga) allowed five runs in the sixth. He has surrendered eight runs in his last 2 1/3 innings.

The Falcons added a run in the seventh off righty Jack Dolak (University of San Diego)

Portland (18-11) never scored more than a run in an inning.

Second baseman Carson Breshears (Gonzaga) led the team with two hits and three RBsI. The soon-to-be senior singled in the third, hit a double in the fifth and brought home a run in the seventh on an infield putout.

First baseman Zander Clarke (UC San Diego) hit a solo home run in the sixth. The third-year Pickle leads the team in batting average (.415) and home runs (7).

Kelowna finished with 10 hits, and Portland had six. The Pickles struck out nine times.

Portland has lost three of its last four games.

The Pickles are off Monday and open a three-game league series versus the Walla Walla Sweets (17-13) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Stadium.

After its series with Walla Walla, Portland will play host to Kelowna for a three-game set beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
