A former track and field Olympic medalist and coach, as well as an NFL player from Portland State, have reason to celebrate

Lance Deal

(age 57)

Born in Riverton, Wyoming, Deal competed in track and field for Montana State, then moved to Eugene. He starred in the hammer, placing second in the 1996 Olympics, his third of four appearances in the Games. He went on to coach the throwing events for the University of Oregon, and joined the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2014, he was voted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Patrick Onwuasor

(age 26)

A former star free safety for Portland State, the 6-0, 225-pounder is hoping to play a third season with the NFL Baltimore Ravens. He had 90 tackles for the team in 2017, and 21 the year before as a rookie. He is from Inglewood, Calif.
