SATURDAY WHL RECAP/Six players score in road victory against Moose Jaw; Farkas stops 23 Warriors shots

Six Portland players scored a goal as the Winterhawks rolled to a 6-0 win at Moose Jaw.

The Hawks posted their fourth consecutive victory. It was their third win in a row and the worst loss of the season for the Warriors.

Reece Newkirk opened the scoring 3:47 into the game. In order, Jake Gricius, Lane Gilliss and Clay Hanus scored in the second half of the first period to give the Hawks a 4-0 edge.

Seth Jarvis struck 18 seconds in the second period.

Joachim Blichfeld made the score 6-0 at 1:11 of the third period.

Nick Cicek had three assists, and Nick Perna had two.

Shane Farkas went the distance in goal for Portland, making 23 saves for his sixth WHL shutout.

The Hawks had 38 shots on goal.

Neither team scored with the man advantage; Portland was 0 for 2 on power plays, Moose Jaw 0 for 3.

The Winterhawks improved to 23-11-3-2 (51 points).

The Warriors fell to 21-9-5-1 (48). They had scored 26 goals in their six previous games, while giving up 15.
