OREGON SPORTS HISTORY/1970: Grant High runner sets women's world record; Ex-Duck/Celtic in running to coach Portland NBA team

Feb. 28-March 4, 1970

Kenny Moore, former University of Oregon distance runner now in the Army at Fort Lewis (Wash.), wins the Seaside marathon in 2 hours, 20 minutes, 58 seconds. Grant High's Caroline Walker sets an unofficial women's world record of 3:02:53, finishing 42nd.

• Former U of O and Boston Celtics standout "Jungle" Jim Loscutoff is a finalist to coach the Portland NBA team.

• Cowboy Franklie Lane wins the 10-man battle royal at the Sports Arena.
