Joey Gallo hits line-drive, two-run homer as Texas wins second of three games against Seattle, 5-3; Rangers go for sweep Wednesday afternoon

LYNNLance Lynn gave up five hits and two runs and struck out 11, and Joey Gallo hit a line-drive, two-run homer as Texas beat Seattle 5-3 Tuesday at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

The Rangers led 3-0 after Nomar Mazara's sixth-inning double. But, Omar Narvaez's single and Jay Bruce's sacrifice fly brought Seattle to within 3-2.

Then, the slugger Gallo lined a pitch off Roenis Elias for a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Narvaez homered in the ninth. He had three hits.

Tommy Milone had a solid first start for Seattle, giving up three hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one in five innings.

Along with 11 strikeouts, Lynn walked only one hitter.

After giving up the Narvaez homer, former Mariner Shawn Kelley got the final out for the save.

The Rangers (23-23) go for the three-game sweep of the Mariners (23-28) at 11 p.m. PT Wednesday. Marco Gonzales (5-3, 3.65) pitches for Seattle opposite Adrian Sampson (1-3, 4.79).

Earlier Tuesday, Ryon Healy (back) and Dee Gordon (wrist) were placed on the 10-day injured list.
