OREGON SPORTS HISTORY/2015: Schimmel voted to start in WNBA All-Star Game; Mariota nabs ESPY; Lananna to lead U.S. men's track and field team

July 11-15, 2015

LILLARDDamian Lillard of the Trail Blazers signs the richest contract in franchise history — a five-year deal worth up to $130 million. It could keep him in Portland through the 2020-21 NBA season.

The Blazers then fill a need at small forward by acquiring Moe Harkless from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a second-round draft pick. Harkless will make $2.9 million next season.

• Shoni Schimmel of the Atlanta Dream is voted by fans as a starter for the Eastern Conference in the WNBA All-Star Game. The former Franklin High and Louisville guard was the No. 3 vote-getter in the East. She also played in the 2014 WNBA All-Star Game, winning NVP honors.

• Marcus Mariota, who recently completed his junior year as quarterback at the University of Oregon and Heisman Trophy winner, collects an ESPY Award as the nation's best male collegiate athlete.

• Oregon associate athletic director and TrackTown USA President Vin Lananna is named head coach of the U.S. men's track and field team for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
