Oregon Sports History: Stock cars race at Jantzen Beach, Lonnie Maine vs. The Crusher for pro wrestling title

Aug. 13-14, 1968

The Portland Adanacs defeat the Detroit Olympics 14-12 and Toronto Maple Leafs in back-to-back National Lacrosse Association road games. That completes a perfect eastern swing that began with a 9-8 victory at Montreal.

• About 20 late-model stock cars are set to race Sunday night on the quarter-mile track at Jantzen Beach Arena.

• Lonnie Mayne and The Crusher will headline Friday's pro wrestling card with a bout for the Northwest heavyweight title. The Crusher agrees to the match only after promoter Don Owen promises to keep Beauregarde from interfering by handcuffing him to a ring post.
