Staff report: Portland wins 7-3 on Friday at Kelowna as Jarvis, Ludvig have three-point games

Seth Jarvis scored two first-period goals to set the tone and the Portland Winterhawks took command in the second period on their way to a 7-3 Western Hockey League win on Friday over the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia.

The Winterhawks improved to 36-7-3-4 (79 points). The Rockets are 23-24-1-4 (49 points) and currently hold the first wild card position in the Western Conference.

Jarvis also had one assist, joining Johnny Ludvig with a three-point night.

Ludvig had a power-play goal and two assists for Portland.

Jaydon Dureau and each had a goal and assist and Gabe Klassen and Mason Mannek also scored Portland goals. Fromm-Delorme and Klassen scored second-period goals that stretched Portland's lead to 5-2.

Joel Hofer stopped 17 of 20 shots in the win as the Winterhawks outshot the Rockets 33-20.

The Hawks were 2 for 6 on the power play. The Rockets were 0 for 2.

Portland and Kelowna play again at 7 p.m. Saturday at Prospera Place.
