Pritchard named nation's top D-I player
Consensus All-American Payton Pritchard is the nation's top NCAA Division I men's basketball player — at least according to Lute Olson Award voters (current and former coaches, NBA players, media and others, including Olson, the former Arizona Wildcats coach).
Pritchard was named winner of the annual award on Wednesday.
The 6-2 guard from West Linn High led Oregon to the Pac-12 regular-season championship this season.
The Lute Olson All-America team consists of 31 players. Pritchard is the only Pac-12 player on the list, which has 13 seniors, six juniors, 10 sophomores and two freshmen.
Pritchard is the first Pac-12 Olson Award winner.
Recent winners include Ja Morant of Murray State last year, Jalen Brunson of Villanova in 2018, and Caleb Swanigan of Purdue in 2017.
