Evan White hits his first career homer, but Houston roughs up starter Kendall Graveman in the series finale

WHITERookie first baseman Evan White hit his first career homer, but Houston roughed up starter Kendall Graveman and went on to beat the Seattle Mariners, 8-5, Monday at Houston's Minute Maid Park.

Houston won three of four games against the Mariners to start the 60-game season. Seattle had ended a 15-game losing streak to Houston on Sunday.

The Mariners (1-3) play three games at the Los Angeles Angels next. Justus Sheffield starts for Seattle in Tuesday's 6:40 p.m. game, opposite Patrick Sandoval.

White's two-run homer off Josh James in the third inning gave Seattle an early 3-0 lead.

Alex Bregman hit a 3-run homer and Jose Altuve a solo homer off Graveman as the Astros built an 8-3 lead.

Graveman, a former Oakland pitcher, gave up six hits and seven runs (six earned) while striking out seven and walking three in four innings.

Kyle Lewis had two hits for Seattle, and is hitting .400 after four games.
