Colorado scratches out an early lead and then rides three homers to victory at T-Mobile Park

MURPHYColorado manufactured four early runs and then pounded three home runs en route to an 8-4 win Friday over Seattle at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners (5-10) have lost six of the past seven games.

The Rockies moved to 10-3, which leads the National League West Division.

Colorado had six hits off Seattle starter Yusei Kikuchi, and pushed across four runs to lead 4-1. A groundout and fielder's choice grounder plated two runs in the third inning and two runs scored on Daniel Murphy's infield single in the sixth inning.

The Mariners drew within 4-3 on Austin Nola's two-run, sixth-inning homer.

But, then Rockies hitters hit long balls. Garrett Hampson hit a solo homer off Seattle reliever Erik Swanson in the seventh inning and, in the eighth, Charlie Blackmon hit a solo shot and Murphy a two-run homer off reliever Yohan Ramirez to make it 8-3.

Nola added an RBI double later for a three-RBI night. Colorado's Murphy went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and a run scored.

The teams play at 6:10 p.m. Friday. Nick Margevicius makes a spot start for Seattle opposite a Colorado pitcher to be determined.
