Rangers rally to top Mariners, 7-4
Seattle almost had a series win at Texas — almost.
The Rangers rallied for five eighth-inning runs and beat the Mariners 7-4 Wednesday at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
All the runs came off reliever Erik Swanson, after Seattle had entered the inning leading 4-2. Daniel Vogelbach hit a two-run homer and Austin Nola a solo shot earlier in the game off Texas starter Jordan Lyles, and Taijuan Walker pitched well.
Walker gave up six hits and one run (unearned) while striking out five and walking one.
The Rangers tied it in the eighth on a single by Jeff Mathis and a sacrifice fly by Shin-Soo Choo, and added three more runs on a wild pitch and a two-run infield single by Willie Calhoun.
Calhoun had two hits and three RBIs for Texas (8-9).
After a day off Thursday, the Mariners (7-13) play three games at Houston, starting at 6 p.m. PT Friday. Yusei Kikuchi pitches for Seattle opposite Framber Valdez.
The Mariners won the opener at Texas, 10-2, before losing the past two games.
