MLS announces three more matches, through the end of September. Matches continue to be held without fans

The next three matches on the Timbers schedule were announced Friday.

As the MLS regular season continues, Portland will visit San Jose for a 7:30 p.m. match Sept. 19, play host to Seattle at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and face the Vancouver Whitecaps at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

The Timbers will be the designated visiting team for the Sept. 27 match against the Whitecaps, though the game will be played at Providence Park.

The Sept. 19 match at San Jose and the Sept. 23 match against Seattle will be televised on KPDX (FOX 12 Plus). The Sept. 27 match against Vancouver can be seen on ROOT Sports.

The Timbers have a makeup meeting with San Jose on Sept. 16, so will be making consecutive trips to Earthquakes Stadium.

MLS is announcing the remaining matches in phases so it can adjust as needed to changing conditions and policies related to COVID-19.

MLS has announced specifics for the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, which again will feature single-elimination matches throughout.

In the Western Conference, eight of the 12 teams qualify for the playoffs with the higher seed hosting each round through the Dec. 12 MLS Cup final.

Ten teams will qualify in the Eastern Conference, with the top six qualifying for the quarterfinals and teams 7 through 10 playing to determine the final two quarterfinal teams.

The Timbers next match is at 8 p.m. Sunday at Los Angeles FC (8 p.m., ROOT).
