Pitcher Chris Haddack limits Seattle offense, Manny Machado hits two home runs

MACHADOThe Seattle Mariners are playing a three-game "home" series at San Diego, because of air quality issues in Seattle.

But, it wasn't home sweet home Friday, as San Diego beat the Mariners 6-1.

Pitcher Chris Paddack allowed one hit in six innings. Manny Machado hit two home runs and drove in four runs.

Seattle's only run came in the eighth inning on an Evan White homer.

The Mariners were supposed to be in the midst of a 10-game homestand. But their two-game set with San Francisco had to be moved to the Bay Area and then they had to play at San Diego rather than play host to the Padres.

Seattle (22-29) and San Diego (33-19) play again at 6:10 p.m. Saturday. Justus Sheffield pitches for Seattle opposite Mike Clevinger.
