NBA to start Dec. 22
The 2020-21 NBA season will consist of 72 games and tip off on Dec. 22.
The Trail Blazers announced that home games at Moda Center, at least initially, will be played without fans.
In a statement, the Blazers said:
"With health and safety as our number one priority, we will continue to evaluate a timeline for fans to return to Moda Center, which has not been determined at this time. We will continue to take the lead from the state and are optimistic that conditions will improve as the season moves forward."
Season-ticket holders will be receiving an email within two weeks with more information.
Free agency will open on Friday, Nov. 20, two days after the NBA Draft with players able to sign with teams starting on Nov. 22.
The league and the NBA Players Association have agreed to adjustments to the collective bargaining agreement to allow for the altered schedule. The salary cap will remain at $109.14 million with the luxury tax threshold at $132,627,000, the same as it was for the 2019-20 season.
