Portland improves to 3-0 in preseason hockey games by blanking Spokane at Kennewick, Washington.

Keys to the game: With only 15 skaters and two goalies available because players are away at NHL camps, Portland jumped ahead with a power-play goal from Robbie Fromm-Delorme in the first period and continued to get solid play from goalies Dante Giannuzzi (17 saves in 40 minutes) and Lochlan Gordon (six saves in 20 minutes). … Marcus Nguyen scored in the third consecutive game and defenseman Josh Mori, filling in on the wing, scored his first goal.

What it means: Portland is 3-0 with one preseason game left.

Notable numbers: The Winterhawks have allowed only three goals through three preseason games. Portland was 1 of 8 on the power play and killed all four Spokane power plays. Portland outshot Spokane 36-23.

Up next: Portland wraps up preseason with a 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, game at Tri-City.
