The Guardians scored five runs in the fifth to take a lead for good in the non-league win over the visiting Raiders.

After falling down 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning, Ida B. Wells High baseball stormed back in a quick way.

It started with a single from Jackson Miller, followed by a walk from Quin Dufort. Then, Davis Dufort laid down a bunt on the third base line, forcing a tough throw from the Raiders' pitcher that went wide right of first.

The error allowed two runs to score and left Davis Dufort on third. Russell Petersen reached on a dropped-third strike, and Miles Ward brought them both home on a single up the middle.

Griffin Scott followed suit with a single up the middle that brought home Ward to leave Wells up 8-6 at the end of the inning. Cody Roletto came in to close the last two innings for Wells after Roland Armstrong pitched the first five.

Wells is now 3-6 overall while Reynolds falls to 1-8.
