WHL team plays first of 34 Portland games Oct. 1; 20 home dates before January; Seattle visits six times.

The Portland Winterhawks 34-game home schedule for the 2022-23 Western Hockey League season begins Saturday, Oct. 1, against the Tri-City Americans and ends Friday, March 24, against Seattle.

For the first time since 2019-20, interconference play will return. The six Central Division teams will visit Portland, including current Western Hockey League champion Edmonton on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Seattle and Portland will meet 12 times, six times in Portland. The other three U.S. Division teams come to Portland four times. The Winterhawks will face B.C. Division teams four times, twice at home.

Portland plays 20 of its 34 home games over the first three months, and only 14 home games in January (five), February (3) and March (six).

Portland's road schedule will be announced in early July when the WHL releases its complete slate. The Winterhawks are on the road for the first three weeks of January and the last two weeks of February.

The Winterhawks announced three major promotion dates along with the release of their home schedule. The Teddy Bear Toss game will be Dec. 10 against Seattle. Everett is the opponent for the 5 p.m. New Year's Eve game. Mascot Night will be March 4 against Tri-City.
