Broncos boys come on strong, claim school's first trophy in 34 years

The Broncos were without a couple of key players much of the way. But with all hands on deck down the stretch, they took third in the Class 5A tournament to claim the school's first trophy in 34 years (the 1983 team placed fourth in the state).

To the uneducated, this seemed a bit like a low-seed mid-major in the NCAA Tournament getting to the Final Four.

"For everybody in the state, we were a surprise. But for us, we weren't," Parkrose coach JC Alexander says.

And probably shouldn't have been.
