The parade came two days after the Timbers defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 in MLS Cup action in Ohio. The team's return to Portland Monday afternoon was greeted by several hundred people who jammed skywalks and sidewalks at Portland International Airport to greet the MLS champions.
