IN PHOTOS: Cheering crowds greet Timbers, MLS Cup in downtown parade
Portland Timbers fans lined downtown's soggy streets Tuesday afternoon to cheer on the MLS champions.
The noon parade crawled along Southwest Broadway as an estimated 20,000 people got a closeup view of the soccer team and the MLS Cup as they passed on open floats.
The parade came two days after the Timbers defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 in MLS Cup action in Ohio. The team's return to Portland Monday afternoon was greeted by several hundred people who jammed skywalks and sidewalks at Portland International Airport to greet the MLS champions.
