Portland aims to gain ground in playoff series with Kelowna Rockets

The Portland Winterhawks didn't come away from Kelowna with a win from the first two games of their best-of-seven Western Hockey League playoff series.

But as the series shifts to Memorial Coliseum for 7 p.m. games Tuesday and Wednesday, the Hawks will have some confidence.

That comes from the last four periods they played at Kelowna, beginning with a two-goal third period in Game 1 and carrying into the second game.

"We picked up where we left off, we had a tremendous third period (in Game 1), and I thought our boys for three periods (in Game 2) gave an honest effort — something that was lacking in Game 1," associate coach Kyle Gustafson said.GUSTAFSON
