Ninth citizen files for West Linn City Council election
West Linn's Kari Johnsen filed Thursday, Aug. 20, as a candidate in this year's City Council election, becoming the ninth hopeful vying for two open council seats.
Johnsen, the executive director for Habitat for Humanity's North Willamette Valley affiliate, said she's running for council because through her work she has seen a lack of knowledge from current members of the council.
"When you work with municipalities, you see the different ins and outs of city government, and I thought that I'd be able to do more with my knowledge and experience than what we've had recently," Johnsen said.
Also in the running for the two open council seats are Kim Bria, Ken Pryor, Mary Baumgardner, Rory Bialostosky, Vicki Olson, Jenny Koll, Alex Juarez and Alan Zezini.
Andrew Mallory, current Councilor Jules Walters and current Council President Richard Sakelik are running for mayor.
The filing deadline is Aug. 25.
