Oregon Ducks' new football coach wants leaders to emerge for 2017

As coach Willie Taggart and his assistants get to know the Oregon players, and vice versa, he hopes a bond might start to develop in the spring, through the summer, and then in training camp before the Ducks try to be a winning team in 2017.

Taggart has done his part by spending time with seniors and other older players — guys recruited by Mark Helfrich and the previous staff, guys indoctrinated into the previous culture, guys who had to be on board with the new, Taggart way. Taggart convinced running back Royce Freeman and wide receiver Darren Carrington to stay in school and instead of trying to make the NFL. The coach wants them to be two seniors who lead the way in 2017.
