Hip, hip, Horan
The National Women's Soccer League has picked Portland Thorns midfielder Lindsey Horan as its Player of the Week.
Horan, 23, from Golden, Colorado, scored her first two goals of the season last week in a 2-0 road victory over Sky Blue.
She headed in Nadia Nadim's free kick in the 20th minute, then finished a cross from Meghan Klingenberg in the 42nd minute.
Portland pushed its unbeaten streak to six games (3-0-3).
The weekly award is voted on by sportswriters who cover the NWSL.
The Thorns' next game is 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Providence Park, also against Sky Blue.
