TriMet warns of 45 minute delays for Lloyd district MAX
Construction season is in full swing in the Portland metro and beginning July 29 TriMet commuters going through the Lloyd Center area will feel the pinch, KOIN 6 News reports.
The Lloyd MAX Improvement project will disrupt MAX service in the Rose Quarter near the Lloyd Center/NE 11th Avenue station. The work begins Monday but the actual 2-week disruption to riders on the Blue, Green and Red lines begins Sunday, August 4.
The project will upgrade some switches and replace sections of curved rail that are worn from decades of use.
Trains will run less often and on special schedules, meaning it may be hard to find space on the train during peak commuter times.
TriMet officials said it could add as much as 45 minutes to your commute. Shuttle buses will take riders between the Rose Quarter and Lloyd stations.
"If you can mix up the time you commute to try and avoid the main commuting hours that would be very beneficial," TriMet's Roberta Alstadt said. "Also we are asking riders to consider using regular TriMet bus service."?
