PPB: Man with replica gun arrested on stalking charge
Portland police have arrested a man on multiple counts of alleged stalking and violating a restraining order.
The incident began Thursday, Aug. 31 after a woman called police to report that she saw her ex-husband driving slowly past her house multiple times. The woman has a restraining order against the man in another state, police say.
Authorities arrived at the woman's home and began to craft a safety plan with local domestic violence advocates — when an officer spotted the suspect driving past the residence again.
"Officers conducted a high risk traffic stop and took the suspect into custody," according to a news release. "Officers could see there was a cell phone in the car that was still recording. The suspect also admitted to a Glock style BB gun being under the seat."
Oscar Adrian Marquez, 45, was charged with three counts of stalking and three counts of violating a restraining order.
After applying for a search warrant, police allege to have found a "full-face" ski mask, fabric gloves and the BB gun in the car.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Marquez kidnapped the woman's two children several years ago, triggering an Amber Alert. The children were later located in Mexico. Marquez also reportedly left a threatening note at the home of the woman's mother recently.
Marquez remains at Inverness Jail at this time.
