Woman on scooter dies after NE Portland crash
A 66-year-old woman who was hit by an SUV while riding a motor scooter in Portland on Friday evening has died.
Portland police said Susan Bartlett was riding a PGO scooter when she was hit by the SUV at Northeast Tillamook Street and Northeast 40th Avenue at about 8:43 p.m. Aug. 30. Investigators determined the SUV turned in front of Bartlett and they collided head-on.
Bartlett was wearing a helmet and was seriously injured. She died in surgery at a local hospital.
The driver was cited at the scene for making an improper left turn.
It was the 40th traffic death in Portland this year.
