Student brings fake gun to Madison High School, police say
Portland police say a student brought a fake gun to the temporary Madison High School campus.
Officers responded to the school's Marshall Campus, 3905 S.E. 91st Avenue, after hearing reports that a student was seen with a gun "concealed in his waistband" around 11:49 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Officers arrived during lunch hour and searched for the student, who was located by school resource officers inside the school and then taken into custody.
Police say they found a "realistic" replica of a handgun under the student's clothing.
The student was questioned and then released to his parents. Police said he is a juvenile and will not be identified.
No danger to the public was uncovered in this incident, but anyone with information about a weapon in a school should call 9-1-1 immediately.
