PMG GRAPHIC - Political news and gossip.Mayor Ted Wheeler trails challenger Sarah Iannarone by 11 points in a new DHM Research poll presented to the Portland Business Alliance last week.

The poll, first reported by Willamette Week, shows Iannarone with 41%, Wheeler with 30%, and the remaining 29% of surveyed voters split between writing in a candidate (16%) or still undecided (13%).

Wheeler's campaign told Willamette Week on Oct. 5 that its internal polling shows the mayor in a position to win with a path to victory. Wheeler fell just short of winning reelection during the May 11 primary election with slightly less than 50% of the vote. Iannarone finished second with 24%, leading to the runoff at the Nov. 3 general election.

The poll also reportedly showed all Portland, Multnomah County and Portland Public Schools ballot measures passing. They include measures to create a new city police accountability system and reopen the parks, a county tax on higher income earners to fund preschool for all children, and a bond measure to continue rebuilding PPS schools.

The DHM phone survey, conducted from Sept. 17 to 22. It has a 4% margin of error.
