Police identify the victim of a Jan. 17 shooting but do not release any suspect information.

The victim has been identified as Samuel Feltis, 31. No suspect information was available.

According to police, at approximately 7:41 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, officers responded to a suspicious death call at the 3200 block of Southeast 90th Place. When officers arrived, they located the deceased victim suffering from traumatic injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene to begin a death investigation. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office conducted a post mortem exam on the victim and determined the cause of death was from gunshot wounds, and the manner of death homicide.

The shooting and death continues a surge of gun violence that began in the middle of last year. Police investigated 890 shootings in 2020 compared to 393 the year before. More than 50 people were killed last year, the most since the 1990s.
