Gov. John Kitzhaber will hold a rare town hall in Portland on March 18 to talk about education investment and improvement.

He'll attend a meeting of the Portland School Board — held at Madison High School rather than at the district's headquarters — to deliver a presentation to the board and answer questions from school board members.

Afterward, there will be a town hall meeting with the public.

Questions for the town hall will be compiled at the meeting and read to the Kitzhaber by PPS high school students.

Questions may also be submitted via the PPS Facebook page before and during the event.

The event is set for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8.

At 8 p.m., school board members convene the general meeting originally scheduled for March 18.

The meeting will be held at Madison High School, 2735 N.E. 82nd Ave.

The meeting will be streamed live at and broadcast on Comcast Channel 28.
