Portland firefighters responded to three fires on Sunday, including an apartment fire where a man was injured.

According to Portland Fire & Rescue, firefighters from Station 7 near Mill Park responded to an apartment fire at 13015 S.E. Powell Blvd. at 6:55 p.m. on April 28. When they arrived, the firefighters found an adult male with apparent burn injuries. PF&R paramedics treated the man while other firefighters put the fire.

The patient was transported to Emanuel hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The fire damage was contained to an area of the kitchen near the range. The cause of the fire and damage estimate was not immediately determined.

The first fire of the day occurred at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 3228 S.W. Sunset Blvd. Firefighters were called to the church at 10:45 a.m. when the fire alarm activated and parishioners noticed smoke. The church was quickly evacuated, even though the fire occurred during a busy Sunday morning service.

When firefighters from Station 10 in Burlingame arrived, they confirmed that everyone was safely out of the building and began searching for the fire. Firefighters encountered thick black smoke, low visibility and high heat while inside the structure. Fire commanders called for a second alarm as a precaution due to fire conditions and the size of the building.

Firefighters located the fire in a first floor game room and it was extinguished.

No one was injured in this fire. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The damage was mainly confined to the game room and other areas of the church can still be occupied. It is estimated at $20,000.

Firefighters responded to the last fire of the day at 9:50 p.m. in a car lot at 5840 S.E .111th Ave. When they arrived, firefighters found several cars on fire. The first units on scene called for additional assistance due to limited fire hydrant availability and the need for more personnel. An electric fence surrounding the lot created an additional hazard for firefighters as they fought the fires.

The fire was extinguished without anyone being injured. The cause and damage estimate were not immediately determined.
