by: COURTESY OF CLACKAMAS COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT NO. 1 - One person died early Friday morning, Jan. 10, in a fire that destroyed a large mobile home on Southeast Glencoe Road in Milwaukie. One person died early Friday morning after a Milwaukie-area mobile home was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were called at about 6:43 a.m. Jan. 10 to the Scotts Tree Mobile Home Park, 7958 S.E. Glencoe Road. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and began searching the wreckage.

Clackamas Fire District No. 1 officials said 61-year-old James Randall was found inside the charred mobile home after the blaze was brought under control. Investigators determined fire’s cause to have been combustible material too close to a portable heater.

In light of this tragedy, Clackamas Fire spokesman Brandon Paxton reminded people to keep combustible material at least three feet away from any space heater and to ensure that their heaters have tip-over protection.
