Mark your calendars, bike enthusiasts: The Portland Sunday Parkways five-event series has been scheduled for this year.

The seventh annual series takes place one Sunday each month from May through September in a different area of the city, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free community events have drawn an estimated 100,000 people annually, on foot, bikes, trikes, skateboards, scooters, unicycles and other contraptions.

“Sunday Parkways is a great introduction to biking and walking for everyone,” says City Commissioner Steve Novick, who oversees the transportation bureau. “The more we bike and walk, the healthier we are and the less we all spend on health care.”

Here are this year’s dates and locations:

• May 11, East Portland

• June 22, North Portland

• July 27, Northeast Portland

• Aug. 24, Southeast Portland

• Sept. 28, Southwest Portland

Kaiser Permanente is the presenting sponsor of Sunday Parkways for the seventh year in a row, investing more than $650,000 in the series in all.

Other partners include Portland Parks & Recreation, Universal Cycles, Clif Kid, Bike Gallery, Whole Foods, Renaissance Homes, NW Natural, Metro, Oregon Department of Transportation, Portland Partyworks, and AARP of Oregon.

The city of Portland funds a third of the costs; sponsors, vendors, and individual supporters fund the remaining two thirds.
