by: CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Janice Ernest, a Molalla woman missing for more than a weekThe body of 62-year-old Janice Lynn Ernest was discovered Thursday afternoon near Butte Creek Road outside Scotts Mills.

Ernest had been missing since Sunday, March 16, when she left her Molalla home.

Searchers discovered Ernest’s body at about 3 p.m. March 27. Search and rescue coordinators from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office were searching the area after Ernest’s her car was discovered.

Sheriff’s office investigators say there were no signs of foul play in Ernest’s death.

Ernest's car was found by two bicyclists Sunday, March 23, on a country road in the hills near Molalla. On Sunday, Frank and Brian Nunn were riding their bicycles on Butte Creek Road, about 15 miles from Molalla, and came upon Ernest’s abandoned car in a section of road that is not maintained, said their father, Clarence Nunn.

The car was parked on the side of the road, and the keys were not in the car, Nunn said.

A search and rescue crew is now combing the woods and hilly country for Ernest in the area of Butte Creek Road where Sawtell Road forks off to Elk Prairie Road and Family Camp Road, said Joan Zuber, a neighbor of the Nunn family.

The Nunns only a month ago found and rescued Zuber, whose hand had been trapped under the under the hood of her truck for 18 hours.

Ernest suffers from bipolar disorder and is believed to be off of her medication.
