A naked man reportedly doing push-up in a road was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as James Earl Hunter, 43, of North Portland. The Oregon State Medical Examiner has submitted blood samples from Hunter for toxicology tests and results are expected in a few weeks time.

The driver, Michelle Kidby, 39, is cooperating with investigators and was not impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, police say. Her vehicle, a 2010 Honda Civic 4-door, suffered very little damage in the crash.

No citations have been issued in the case, which remains under investigation.

According to police, at 4:04 a.m. on May 4, North Precinct officers responded to the report of a naked man running in traffic near North Columbia Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue.

Before the officers arrived, a second report came in that the naked man was doing push-ups in the roadway. Then a third report stated that he'd been struck by a vehicle.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the adult male, later identified as Hunter, who was deceased.

The Major Crash Team responded and investigators learned that the driver struck the pedestrian in the roadway while traveling westbound on Columbia Boulevard.

Columbia Boulevard was closed for several hours during the investigation, and has since reopened to all traffic.
