The cubs were named Hasani, Mashavu and Niara, zoo officials said.

Hasani, which means “handsome” in Swahili, is the name of the male. The females are Mashavu – “chubby cheeked” — and Niara, “one with high purpose.”

They are the first offspring for Kya and Zawadi Mungu, the cubs’ father.
