Pedestrian killed by MAX train in East Portland
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a MAX train Friday evening in East Portland.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
TriMet said shuttle buses were dispatched to serve the stations between Gateway Transit Center and E. 162nd Ave Station, but that riders should expect delays.
According to police, at 7:14 pm on Oct. 10, East Precinct and Transit Police Division officers responded to 160th Avenue and East Burnside Street on the report that a pedestrian was struck by an eastbound MAX train.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and determined that the male adult pedestrian was deceased.
MAX trains in both directions were stopped, with eastbound delays expected to be more significant.
East Burnside Street was also closed in both directions from 162nd to 157th Avenues as the investigation continued.
Riders were directed to transit updates on http://www.TriMet.org.
