Police say the boy shot himself in the finger

A four-year-old Gresham boy was reportedly injured Saturday night after shooting himself in the finger.

According to the Gresham Police Department, officers responded at 8:21 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, on a report of a child that had accidently discharged a firearm, striking the child's finger.

The child was transported to the hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

The involved parties are cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing at this time.

Detectives said it is not yet known if any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the case.

The identity of the boy and his family were not released as of Saturday evening.

No other information is available at this time, police said.
