But we already knew that, right?

Amazon released its list of the best-read 20 cities in the nation this week. determined the rankings by compiling sales data from cities with more than 500,000 residents on a per capita basis, including purchases of all books, magazines and newspapers in both Kindle and print format from April 2015 to April 2016.

Topping the list, for the second year in a row, was Seattle. Portland is No. 2.

The remaining top 20 most well-read cities were:

• Washington, D.C.

• San Francisco

• Austin

• Las Vegas

• Tucson

• Denver

• Albuquerque

• San Diego

• Baltimore

• Charlotte, N.C.

• Louisville, Ky.

• San Jose, Calif.

• Houston

• Nashville

• Chicago

• Indianapolis

• Dallas

• San Antonio

One tidbit from Amazon’s survey: “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins, was the top-selling Kindle and print title in five of the top 10 cities: Portland, Austin, Tucson, Albuquerque and San Diego.
