Oh, my! Glassybaby is opening a retail shop in Lake Oswego! Today!
Pardon the exclamation points, but anyone who has driven to Washington and waited in line for hours at a glassybaby factory sale is going to be thrilled with this news: The Seattle-based maker of hand-blown votive candle cups is opening its first Oregon retail shop today in downtown Lake Oswego!
The pop-up shop, which will only be open through Dec. 31, is located next to Sur la Table at 390 N. State St. in the Lake View Village retail complex. It will feature glassybabys full line of one-of-a-kind candleholders, which come in more than 400 colors each with a unique name like "joy," "hope," "gratitude," "fearless," "sorry," "bff" and "frog hunting."
We believe in the power of incredible communities to make an impact, and we are thrilled to be joining our friends and giving partners in the Lake Oswego community, says glassybaby founder Lee Rhodes. Our Oregon community has graciously made glassybaby a part of their home for years, so its always nice when we have the opportunity to welcome them into ours and share our collective stories of hope and healing.
Rhodes, a three-time cancer survivor, founded glassybaby in 2001. During chemo treatments, she met patients who couldn't afford basic needs such as bus fare, childcare or groceries. Inspired to launch glassybaby, Rhodes made it her mission to use the company to help alleviate those struggles.
The giving mission of glassybaby has since expanded to help people, animals and the environment. To date, glassybaby has donated more than $5 million to more than 400 organizations. In keeping with that dedication to giving, 10 percent of all glassybaby sales at the Lake Oswego store will be donated to the Childrens Cancer Alliance, in support of programs that "deliver joy to children and teens facing serious illnesses."
The Lake Oswego store will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information about glassybaby, go to www.glassybaby.com, follow along on Instagram at @glassybaby and @glassybabylakeoswego or check out the blog at www.glassybaby.com/community.
