Nonprofit aims to honor veterans for service with airplane rides, tribute

Nine area veterans, including two from Wilsonville, were treated to an exhilarating ride in a WWII-era biplane Aug. 18. SUBMITTED PHOTO - Area veterans celebrate their dream rides in a WWII-era biplane Aug. 18.

Made possible by the Vital Life Foundation (associated with Marquis Companies, which owns Marquis Wilsonville Assisted Living), the "Ageless Aviation Dream" rides took off from Aurora Airport and lasted an average of 30 minutes for each veteran, who ranged in ages from 72-96.

Joe Rolison, 92, served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945 and John Bogen, 91, was in the U.S. Air Force from 1944-1946. Both men are from Wilsonville. Wilsonville veteran Joe Rolisen
