Two killed in weekend crashes
Two people died in car crashes over the weekend.
According to police, the most recent investigation began at 5:57 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, when Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle traffic crash on Southwest Boones Ferry Road near Alfred Street. The caller reported that the vehicle was stuck in a tree down an embankment.
Officers, firefighters, and medical personnel arrived and were able to get both driver and passenger out of the vehicle. Although the driver did not appear to be suffering from any serious injuries, the passenger did not survive the crash.
The passenger in the 2016 Jaguar F-Type sedan is identified as Shad M. Alexander, 44, of Aloha.
The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to conduct an investigation.
Southwest Boones Ferry Road was closed in both directions for the investigation.
Before that, a driver died in a head-on crash in North Portland early Saturday. The occupants of the other vehicle were not seriously injured.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
According to police, at 8:40 a.m. on Dec, 2, North Precinct officers responded to the report of a head-on traffic crash on North Denver Avenue, just north of Columbia Boulevard. As officers were responding, the caller reported that CPR was being performed on one of the drivers.
When officers and medical personnel arrived, they determined that one driver was deceased. Preliminary information indicates the deceased driver may have suffered a medical event while driving, leading to the crash.
The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to conduct an investigation. Traffic on North Denver Avenue was closed for several hours.
