UPDATE: Victim identified and suspect vehicle and owner located, but no immediate arrests.

Portland police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Friday evening lying on the ground near Southwest First Avenue and Clay Street.

Police have identified the victim as Robby E. Gibb, 28. His cause of death was not immediately determined.

A white vehicle, seen by witnesses in the area where Gibb's body was located, has been found. The owner of the vehicle has been contacted but no one was immediately taken into custody.

Accordng to police, the body was found at about 7:03 p.m. Dec. 22. Central Precinct officers and medical crews responded but the man had died at the scene.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is aiding the investigation. The state medical examiner's office is trying to determine what caused the man's death.

First Avenue was closed during the investigation between Columbia and Market streets, and on Clay Street between Naito Parkway and Second Avenue.
