Robert Lopez is suspected of killing his girlfriend in a house and then commiting suicide after leaving in her car.

KOIN 6 NEWS - A Gresham police car.A 35-year-old man is suspected of killing his girlfriend and then taking his own life in another location on Saturday.

According to Gresham police, around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 23, the father of Robert Lopez went to Gresham Police headquarters and said his son just killed his girlfriend, Hillary Vodden.

Officers immediately went to a house in the 2000 block of Northwest 7th Place and found the 34-year-old woman dead from a gunshot.

At 8:42pm, while Gresham police investigators were responding to the Northwest 7th Place address, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a vehicle crash on Highway 26 at Southeast Haley road,Deputies found Lopez dead inside the car that belonged to Vodden.

As a result of the investigation, police believe that Mr. Lopez shot and killed Mrs. Vodden and immediately drove east to the location on Highway 26 where he killed himself.
