Pedestrian in freeway killed near Damascus
A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Jeep overnight in Damascus.
The victim is identified as Jami Lee Dasher, 28, of Boring.
The driver is identified as Jose Rodriguez-Peneda, 54, of Sandy.
Oregon State Police troopers and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the crash around midnight on Jan. 14.
According to the CCSO, the preliminary investigation revealed that a red 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Rodriguez-Peneda was traveling eastbound on Highway 212 just east of Southeast 222nd Avenue when it collided with a pedestrian.
It was also determined that the pedestrian, identified as Dasher, was in the eastbound lane of travel at the time of the collision. Dasher sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Oregon State Police was assisted by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, multi-agency CRAFT Team, Clackamas Fire Department and ODOT.
